AZERBAIJAN EMBASSY IN ROME
The design of this emblematic, multi-award-winning pavilion comes to life from a harmonious and coherent integration of elegantly defined architectural forms, advanced technologies, structures and artistic content, where three spheres of glass and steel with double curvature, a technology derived from aeronautics, dominate as a metaphor for an open country, guaranteeing transparency and flexibility. Set like jewels between the floors, they tell the story of a country as a treasure of great bioclimatic and cultural diversity. Other strongly characterizing elements are the two large sunshades (louvers) that cover both long sides of the building, creating a more private atmosphere and which required an in-depth study to ensure structural lightness and quick assembly.
The structural design also led to the definition of some patents to allow the assembly and disassembly of the spheres without support structures.
At the end of the international event, the entire building was dismantled and relocated to the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
